Globe valves differ from gate valves in that, while both open and close pipelines, globe valves can be equipped with a regulating plug (throttle plug/regulation disc) to precisely control flow. Unlike gate valves, globe valves do not provide a full bore passage.

Key Features

Globe valves are control valves designed for accurate flow regulation or shut-off. They are typically operated via handwheel and can optionally include a bypass valve for easier pressure equalization. Compared to gate valves, they allow finer flow control, making them ideal for applications requiring precise fluid management.

Precise Flow Control

The special cone design allows accurate adjustment of flow, suitable not only for stopping flow but also for fine regulation.

Integrated Back Seal

Globe valves feature an integrated back seat. With optional Stellite hardfacing, the valve is durable, easy to service, and reliable even at high pressures and temperatures.

Bypass Valve Compensation

A major improvement in user comfort is provided by an optional bypass valve, which balances pressure before operation, making opening and closing easier, particularly under high operating pressures.

ndustry - Forged Small Globe Valves by the Experts

These forged small globe valves feature metal-to-metal seating, making them suitable for high-temperature applications. Optional Stellite overlay welding extends service life. Valves are available with flanged, socket weld, or butt weld ends and are made from steel or stainless steel. For high-pressure applications, the self-sealing Pressure Seal design is recommended to minimize leakage. All globe valves have no inherent ignition source and are suitable for hazardous areas.

Key Features

Our versatile forged small globe valves allow precise control and reliable shut-off of fluids, suitable for water, gas, oil, steam, and other media. An optional bypass valve simplifies pressure equalization, making these valves ideal for industrial applications requiring high control, temperature, and pressure resistance.

Advantages

✓ Excellent shut-off performance

✓Moderate to good throttling capability

✓Shorter stroke than gate valves

✓Available in T-, Y-, and Wye-pattern designs

✓Seats are easy to machine or regrind

✓If the disc is not attached to the stem, the valve can function as a check valve

Disadvantages

✓ Higher pressure drop compared to gate valves

✓ Requires more force or a larger actuator under seat pressure

✓ Throttling occurs under the seat; shut-off occurs above the seat

T-Pattern / Straight-Through Valve

Most commonly used type with a Z-shaped body. The horizontal seat allows the stem and plug to move perpendicular to the flow path. Provides the lowest flow coefficient and a higher pressure drop.

Angle Pattern Valve

Modified T-pattern with flanged connections at a 90° angle. Fluid flows through a single 90° turn. Flow coefficient slightly lower than T-pattern valves. Suitable for pulsating flow applications.

Y-Pattern / Angle Seat Valve

Y-pattern valves offer a lower-pressure-drop alternative. With the seat and stem angled around 45 degrees, they provide a straight flow path when open, reducing flow resistance. These valves are commonly used for precise throttling applications.

Typical applications

✓ Cooling water systems requiring flow regulation

✓ Heating oil systems needing precise flow control and tight shut-off

✓ High-point vents and low-point drains where sealing and safety are critical

✓ Feedwater, chemical, condensate, and extraction systems

✓ Boiler blowdown and drain lines, main steam vents, and heating system drains

✓ Turbine sealing and drainage systems

✓ Turbine lubrication systems, and other industrial applications
